A Futures in Mind volunteer befriender could help you find your confidence and enthusiasm again and feel part of your community.
A Shared Journey
Have you stopped doing things you used to enjoy? Would you like to try something new, or get out and about but don’t want to go alone? Does your mental health or substance addiction make you feel isolated?
Our befrienders and peer mentors are both staff and volunteers who meet with people who use our service, usually once a week, to listen and make a real positive difference to people’s lives. Volunteers are often people with lived experience of addiction, substance misuse or mental health issues. They’ve made huge strides in their road to recovery and are here to help you on yours.
The team has received skills training, first aid training and safeguarding checks so that you can both feel safe working together.
If you would like to be matched up with a befriender, please contact us or use our self-referral form and mention that you are seeking personal support. Or if you would enjoy helping others as a volunteer befriender, get in touch. Full training, safeguarding and support is available to all our volunteers.
PLEASE NOT THAT WE HAVE VERY HIGH DEMAND FOR THIS SERVICE AND ONLY A LIMITED NUMBER OF BEFRIENDERS AVAILABLE.
